The Backstory
Asuka ran roughshod over the NXT roster accumulating a winning streak that not only surpassed Goldberg’s but might never be broken.
She held the NXT Championship with pride and seemed to take immense joy in hurting anyone who stepped up to challenge her.
The Empress Of Tomorrow had to vacate her prized NXT Women’s Championship after sustaining a broken collarbone.
Normally an injury like that wouldn’t end a run like Asuka’s but she was more than ready for a jump to the main roster so WWE used this opportunity to pop on her ascension.
The only real question remaining is which brand Asuka will be brought up to.
The heart of the matter
Sasha Banks won the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam ending Alexa Bliss’ run with her title just short of Charlotte Flair’s record. But The Boss wouldn’t hold her title for long because Bliss challenged Banks to a rematch and recaptured her title in clean fashion two weeks after The Biggest Party Of The Summer.
With Asuka on her way up to the main roster soon, some fans were under the assumption WWE was prepping the Raw brand for Asuka’s call-up.
Bryan Alvarez recently discussed this subject on Wrestling Observer Live, thanks to Still Real To Us for the transcription
What’s next?
If Asuka does wind up on the Raw brand then she will be right at home. Fans could see some incredible match ups with her insertion into the mix. But for now, it looks like WWE is finally going to the Nia Jax vs Alexa Bliss feud.
Author’s take
Asuka is one of the most captivating people I’ve ever seen perform. She can hold down any audience’s attention with her unique style and charisma so she should be a great fit for the WWE main roster.
Honestly, I would rather see Asuka on Raw because it seems to be the bigger stage. But she would be an asset where ever she goes. Let’s just hope they use her properly.
