Yes, players have seen just about everything over the first week since the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, from player characters mutating into massive demonic monsters to randomly vanishing Pokemon, and even weird glitches causing groups of NPC trainers to simultaneously stand up and start T-Posing. Players have been discovering new and progressively weirder bugs every day, with fans sharing many hilarious and equally unexpected moments via social media sites such as Reddit and Twitter. Not just glitches, either - much of Scarlet and Violet’s plentiful criticism is directed at the underwhelming graphical quality and crushing performance issues, which collaboratively make the game look as though it’s far from finished.

A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player known as Choojermelon shares another hilarious clip of the game on Twitter, which showcases a strange bug causing a rival character named Nemona to dash straight through a staircase like it’s Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter. The 3-second clip starts with Nemona telling the player to prepare to climb the worst staircase in the world, promptly before refuting her own advice and instead sprinting straight through it and vanishing. Nemona moves and disappears so quickly that some fans might have to do a double take. It’s unclear what causes this particular glitch or how many players experience it, but it’s certainly not the only glitch causing NPC characters to do wacky things.

Some fans joke that Nemona’s ability to phase through solid matter is actually a canon feature, and explains how she can zip across the Paldea region in an instant to challenge players to a battle as soon as they beat a Gym Leader. In fact, Nemona has quickly become a favored character among many members in the community due to her quirky personality and seemingly constant urge to battle the player.

While this is just one example of many bugs that substitute humor instead of impacting gameplay, Scarlet and Violet’s many bugs, graphical issues, and performance problems have prompted many fans to seek refunds. Though many players are hoping that the developers will provide a patch to address some of these issues, the lack of a public statement from Game Freak doesn’t bode well for hopeful fans.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
